I did it again! I made a stupid choice and I paid the price.
My kids aren't back in school yet. So that means my weekday runs are still in the late afternoons, after work. Sometimes I can carve out some time at midday, but lately work has been too hectic for that.
So on Wednesday, I trudged out of my office and a blanket of heat swallowed me up. Temps had climbed into the mid 90s. Did I care??? uh huh! (shaking head foolishly).
I decided to run one of my favorite routes up to the top of Lime Ridge. it's only 1000' elevation, and usually takes just under an hour. But, the heat
pwned me!! I got halfway up the incline and died. Instead of a nice quick run, I was dealing with a murderous hike. All I kept thinking was I had to get to the top, cuz then it's all downhill. And you can always run downhill, right? NO!!
I was so zapped I could barely put one foot in front of the other. A simple 55 minutes run, turned into an 75 minute heat stroll. So, if you ever need a few tips on running stupid, well, look me up. Got a nice tan, though :-)
